I just got a 4100 with 410 loader 1998 model with 200 hours.It runs great and was very well maintained.This is my first Compact Tractor and would like to know if $9500 was a fair price.I also would like to know if any one has a belly mower on one of these models and what width would work best? 54" or 60"?

Is it a gear or hydro? I have one with a 54" mower. The 60" was probably heavier duty but cost considerably more. How well does the loader work? I have been interested in getting one to do light duty jobs. ....

i have the 60" belly mower and the front loader with my 4100. the belly mower is a hoss. unfortunately it's too much for what i need, i have it listed on the classifieds on this site. the front loader is the best money i've spent in a while. it is incredibly handy for all types of chores. haven't touched a wheel barrow or the little lawn trailer since i got the bucket. ....

That price also sounds fair to me, assuming it truely was cared for. Your question of which mower is better depends on you. The 60" will obviously cut more grass per pass, but will be a little more prone to scalp than the 54". This is true with any mower as deck size increases. We needed the 54" to fit between our fence and a few of our mature trees. My advice is to stay away from one of those lesser expensive aftermarket mowers. The JD mower may be more expensive but when it comes time to installation & removal, you'll save yourself alot of headaches. I mention this because you have a loader. So far, I've taken my mower deck off about 10 to 20 times per year for loader work. In the beginning I tried using it with the deck attached, and still do for "certain" things, but soon found using the loader with the mower attached is asking for trouble. Guys here on the CTB said it, but I didn't listen, well now I'm part of the "been there, done that" club. The risk of damaging the deck isn't worth the 5 minutes it takes to remove it. OMO. Thanx guys for all the feedback...I did a little loader work today (and some play...hehehe)Im thinking about the 54"belly mower.I have a 2 acer front yard and I want the best cut I can get and dont want to rush the job (I want to enjoy the ride)I will defintiely get the JD brand..I would'nt have it any other way.I keep you guys posted....:) ....
